Village Ban Poukrai
Village Ban Poukra
We met Sophie Chollet who is French and has lived in Thailand for 20 years. Her story is fascinating and Planete Wakeboard subscribes to her Association. More than a dozen Planete Wakeboard Clients have visited the children in Ban Poukra village and donate regularly to help a child. It’s not a tourist attraction, but a cultural visit and once you have met Sophie you’ll understand, so please don’t hesitate to help the children if you can.
“In 1992 I married a Lahu, and for five years, I lived in Ban Poukrai - his village situated in the mountains. The Lahu Tribe originate from Tibet and emigrated to Thailand more than a century ago. Approximately 70,000 live in the mountains and live off the rice plantations which doesn’t provide enough money for the children to go to school. The reason why, I decided to create the ABCD for all Association – Registration No.664 1901 French Law. The 12 Euros donation will allow a child to go to school and have a uniform plus
all the necessary equipment.
Not only that but the Association receives powdered chocolate, concentrated milk, orange juice, tins of sardines, dried fish, soup, shampoo, toothpaste, soap, mosquito nets, pillows and clothes, twice a month.
To support a child will guarantee their future – so they would want me to thank you for them.”
